Hi there! 👋🏽

I’m Mittra, a UX designer and strategist passionate about creating impactful experiences through design. I believe great design comes from focusing on the right questions. My approach can best be described as "be the filter, not the grounds."

Currently, I'm working at JPMorgan Chase & Co. to create end-to-end experiences that enable small business owners to manage their bottom line and make better business decisions. I partner closely with executives, product managers, data analysts, researchers, content designers, and developers to evaluate trade-offs to enhance a data analytics tool. With strong opinions loosely held, I'm working to drive alignment in a legacy enterprise organization where design is still earning a seat at the table.

I'm an advocate for accessibility and inclusive design. I strive to transform ideas and insights into a clear vision that provides useful and desirable outcomes. Next, I'm looking for a strategic lead product design role at a design-driven organization.

When I’m not designing, you’ll find me searching for the best slice of cheese pizza on the East Coast, hitting PRs on the squat rack, and surveying every local coffee shop within a 0.5-mile radius.

Originally from Austin, I now live and work in NYC. I'd love to grab a coffee and yap, please say hello!

Don't just take my word for it...

"I've been incredibly fortunate to have Mittra on my team. As an intern, she immediately jumped right in to a complex problem space. Her internship project became foundational work for a major initiative. In just one summer, it was clear that she had already developed expertise in this space and upholds the values that define what it means to be an "athenista".

As a full-time member of the team, her thoughtful approach to planning user research and synthesizing findings informed her design approach. She brings a wonderful balance of creativity and inspiration from other consumer experiences to give patients facing large medical bills more control and flexibility over their finances. She worked closely with her cross-functional team to deliver high quality experiences to patients, where she became a well-respected representative of the UX team. She has also become a go-to person who is helping all of us understand what it means to design and build more accessible experiences for all.

It's hard to imagine my team without Mittra, but I know that she's going to be a fantastic addition to another great team out there."

"Inquisitive, committed, and courageous are words that come to mind when I think of Mittra. We quickly realized that there was something special about Mittra, and we immediately made her an offer before her internship ended. The pace at which she matured into a top-flight user experience designer was impressive. She brings a passion for the user and has excellent interpersonal skills to ensure her teammates share that passion. During her tenure, she designed experiences that substantially impacted the athenahealth business on daunting and vital goals. If you want someone to affect your business and culture positively, I highly recommend Mittra."

K.C. Teis, Executive Director of Experience Design at athenahealth

"Mittra is a UX rockstar on a rapid growth trajectory. Don't miss out on an opportunity to work with her!! We've worked side-by-side for the last 2 years, and I've been so impressed with her passion and growth. Mittra is the perfect combination of humble and confident. She's self-aware, eager to learn, takes feedback well, speaks up, and challenges others appropriately. She can work independently and collaboratively. She takes initiative, dives in and tackles tough design challenges, but also knows when to seek help and support. She is a passionate and outspoken advocate for the user while also recognizing when to pick her battles with the scrum team. She has earned the respect of her multi-disciplinary team. Mittra has all the foundational soft skills that you need in a teammate, and the ability to learn any new hard skills very quickly. I whole-heartedly endorse her."
